Using Phentermine For Obesity

Phentermine is a drug used to suppress your appetite so this is given widely to patients who suffer from obesity as doctors and likes think it will help, but in truth there are more disadvantages to these types of methods of weight loss. Phentermine is a drug so therefore it will of course have side effects, all drugs do and one of the things you have to be careful about when you are on any kind of drug is that you do not become dependant on it. Being on this type drug and for a long time is not good for you I’m about to tell you why!

Using Phentermine to abominate obesity is not a good idea; it has been banned in Europe due to the speculation that it is related to heart and lung problems, also it is not known whether it is 100%safe to take this medication or any other kind like it for more than a couple of weeks.

Weight is generally gained after stopping this medication so if your going to out it all back on after using this medication, suffering from the side effects and having a really unhappy time while being on them what is the point in being on them at all, that is my philosophy!

Obesity and Phentermine don’t work together, the best possible way to achieve ultimate weight loss is to eat a healthy and balanced diet and incorporate some moderate exercise every day and there you have it, the best way to loose weight safely!

Exercise For Obesity?

We hear a lot about obesity these days and the usual solutions range from gastric bypass surgery to the inevitable plea for diet and exercise. However, there is one problem that people do not normally address with obesity, that is, what type of exercise can they do?

The problem? They couldn't do the same kinds of exercises as other clients because of their size...the machines were too small for them and some exercises were just downright impossible. Together, we've come up with some solutions to these problems and, if you're in the same boat, you can too.

Some of the main problems faced by obese people in the gym are:

1. Machines that are difficult to use or cause knee or back problems.

2. Swimming is a recommended exercise for obese people and this is wonderful if you have a pool in your backyard, but what if you don't? Walking around in a bathing suit causes instant panic for plenty of people, but even moreso if you're overweight or obese.

3. Recumbent bikes are another good option for obese people. The problem is, many aren't built with big enough seats and climbing onto them can be a real challenge.

4. Walking. This is a simple exercise that can be done anywhere, right? Tell that to one of my clients who got food thrown at her from a moving car because of her size.

First, let's define our terms. Dictionaries agree: obesity is excess body fat. It is not defined as a behavior. However, many people use the term obesity as short-hand for overeating or lack of exercise. But that is not its definition.

Consider this: most people can distinguish between smoking and lung cancer. One is a behavior and one is a disease. Or problem drinking of alcohol and liver disease. One is a behavior and one is a disease. Sunbathing without protection is a behavior; skin cancer is a disease.

Second, obesity - the excess accumulation of body fat - fits all the definitions of "disease." How is "disease" defined? Most dictionaries, general as well as medical, define a disease as an interruption, cessation or disorder of a bodily function, organ or system. Obesity certainly fits this definition.

All over the world, obesity has become an unstoppable epidemic. Several people diet every year of because of obesity problems. Well, I’m here to tell you that obesity is very controllable.
Many people struggle with obesity. Whether, it’s from a large build, slower metabolism, or heredity, we are all capable of obesity too. The truth of the matter is obesity will probably be with some people for their entire lives.

In the United States alone, obesity has become an unstoppable epidemic. Hundreds of thousands of Americans die every year because of obesity. Don’t become another statistic!

Warning: What you are about to read may offend some people, but it needs to be said.
Many people suffer from being overweight. It may result from a stocky build, slow metabolism, or some other physical reason, but it is a fact of life for many people. They will probably struggle with it their entire lives.

However, obesity is different. A very miniscule percentage of obese people have medical reasons for their condition. The rest of them just cannot stop shoveling the food in long enough to see the consequences of their actions.

Have you been in a restaurant or at a party and watched an obviously obese person shoveling in the food and drinking a soda? Do they think the diet soda will make all that fat and calories go away? It doesn't work that way.

The following are the beginning steps of a very long and bumpy road to recovery. However, if you want to rid yourself of obesity once and for all, you may want to immediately put the suggestions below into action before it is too late:

- Stop eating fatty foods! Potato chips, french fries, soda… you name it! Before you can recover from your problem, you have to admit that you have one. And those fatty foods are indeed a big problem. If you feel that you absolutely must eat something, get some fresh fruit or vegetables. They not only contain the essential nutrients that your body needs for good health, but some will actually burn more calories that they replace.

- Check up with your doctor. If you are more than 50 pounds overweight, only a fool would recommend any diet plan until you are medically cleared by your physician. Your doctor can also advise you on the best programs to help you get started. This cannot be emphasized enough. Once you have eliminated the fattening foods, see your doctor before going one step farther.

- In the worst case scenario, consider seeking a counselor. Is there a deep seated, subconscious reason for your eating disorder or are you just a pig? The answers may surprise you. Once you discover the reasons for your self destructive behavior, you will be better equipped to handle them. If you cannot afford counseling, talk to a trusted friend or, if you are a religious person, perhaps someone at your church. They may not be able to diagnose your problem, but they can be there for you when you encounter those bumps in the road to recovery.

In conclusion, fighting obesity is just a matter of effective prevention and discipline. It is about forming a new, healthier habit. Would you rather live the rest of your life tired, unhappy and fat? Or do you think it is time to get your act together and start eating healthy? You decide!

Obesity is a disease that affects approximately 60 million people in the United States, and women are especially affected. But what is obesity? Many people think obesity means that a person is overweight, but thatÕs not exactly true. An overweight person has a surplus amount of weight that includes muscle, bone, fat, and water. An obese person has a surplus of body fat. Most health professionals concur that a man is obese if he has over 25 percent body fat, and a woman is obese if she has over 30 percent. Women physiologically have more body fat than men, so that why thereÕs a difference in percentage.

It is difficult to determine the exact percentage of body fat a person has, but estimates can be made in a number of ways. First, using a tweezer-like tool called a caliper, you can measure the thickness of skin folds on different points of your body and compare the results with standardized numbers. You can also use a small device that sends a harmless electrical current through your body and measures your body fat percentage. The most commonly used method to determine if a person is obese is to look at his/her Body Mass Index (BMI). A person with a BMI over 30 is considered to be obese, and a BMI over 40 is considered to be severely obese. ItÕs important to remember though that BMI could be misleading in pregnant or lactating women and in muscular individuals.

With obesity, comes the increased risk of diseases such as high blood pressure, Type II Diabetes, heart disease, and breast, colon, and prostate cancer. In addition, obesity has been linked to mental health conditions such as depression or feelings of shame and low self-esteem. Health experts say that even losing 10 to 15 percent of your body weight can dramatically decrease the risk of developing these serious conditions. In addition, many obese people are discriminated against and targets of insults and other verbal abuse.

Childhood Obesity

Along with the increase of obesity in adult, childhood obesity is on the rise. Around 15.5 percent of adolescents in the United States, aged 12 to 19 are obese. Even more alarming, about 15.3 percent of children ages 6 to 11 are obese. These children are developing Type II Diabetes and high blood pressure at an early age. They are placing themselves at increased risk for heart disease and other obesity-related diseases. Their weight also makes them the target of bullies and children who insult and taunt them about their weight. This can ruin their self-esteem and put them at risk for depression.

TodayÕs children make up the digital generation. TheyÕve been surrounded by computers their entire life and are not as physically active as children of past generations were. There are fast food restaurants virtually around every corner, and they have easy access to snack foods full of saturated fats and sugars. In addition, obese parents are more likely to have obese children. The reason for this is two-fold. First, obese parents probably pass down their poor habits to their children. Second, genetics plays a role in obesity.

ItÕs important for parents to be role models to their children and emphasize the importance of physical activity and healthy eating. Parents can create healthy environments for their children by doing regular physical activities, such as biking, swimming, or walking together. They should encourage their children to participate in sports, dance, martial arts, and etcetera. This allows children to develop an appreciation of physical activity and enjoy exercising.

When it comes to eating, parents need to implement diets rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole-grains. They can make eating enjoyable and healthy by preparing food together and eating together as a family. Fast-food should be limited and reserved for special occasions. Way too often, we reward ourselves for a job well done with food. Look for other ways to reward your children for doing a great job, such as a special shopping trip or a day with just mom or dad.

Numerous studies have shown that more Americans are obese today than ever before and, interestingly, we’re not the only ones. Not only are Americans fatter than ever, so are their dogs; and the phenomenon can have serious ramifications for both groups. Obese dogs run a lot of the same risks that obese people do. When a dog is over weight it is at higher risk for heart disease, respiratory ailments, weak joints and other problems. Despite what food or dietary supplements you’re using, there is no substitute for the support and commitment of the family. Feeding the dog extra treats or table scraps on the sly will not be doing the pooch any favors.

They love to run and play with their people. Combating Obesity

So you ask, " How do I determine if I am Obese, Overweight or fat?" Usually 20% or more over recommendations on standard weight charts indicates that you fit into the obese category. Obesity refers specifically to having an abnormally high proportion of body fat.

An estimated 97 million adults in the United States, 55% of the population, are overweight or obese! Similar percentages exist for the United Kingdom, showing that the United Kingdom having the highest percentage in Europe.

Obesity is increasing

Largest increase has occurred in the last 10 to 15 years. Increases were seen in both sexes and all classes, with the greatest increase in 18- to 29-year-olds and in those who have achieved higher education.

Weight gain is dependent on a person's energy intake being greater than energy expenditure. One pound (0.45 kg) is equal to 3,500 calories. Therefore, a person consuming 500 calories more than he or she expends daily will gain 1 lb a week.

Food cravings

Weight alterations in either direction cause changes in energy expenditure that favor a return to the set point. This helps explain the poor problem of recidivism following attempted weight loss. Only by reaching a lower weight for a period of time can the person get used to feeling lighter.

Children

Children become overweight for a variety of reasons. The most common causes are genetic factors, lack of physical activity, unhealthy eating patterns, or a combination of these factors. In rare cases, a medical problem, such as an endocrine disorder, may cause a child to become overweight. Your physician can perform a careful physical exam and some blood tests, if necessary, to rule out this type of problem.

What Is Obesity?

Obesity is a condition that results from the accumulation of excess fat in the body. In general, a person has obesity when the weight of the person is 20 percent or more above the normal recommended weight based on the person’s height, age, sex and build or bone structure.
There is what is called the Body Mass Index (BMI), which is a measure of body fat, calculated using a formula that requires the height and the weight of an adult (either man or woman).

Persons with a BMI of less than 18.5 are underweight. A person is considered to be of normal weight if his or her BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9; overweight if the BMI is between 25 and 29.9; and obese if it is 30 and above. If the BMI is 40 or exceeds 40, then the person is said to be morbidly obese. Morbid obesity is also described as a ‘clinically severe obesity’, that requires urgent medical intervention.

The BMI figures given above are compiled and supplied by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI). One problem with the BMI is that it does not give the right estimate of the body fat in cases of persons with a muscular build (as in the case of athletes) or those who have lost their muscle mass (as in the case of old people). Usually, however, the BMI is a fair indicator of obesity.

When you have accumulated excessive fat in the body tissues, you have obesity, a condition that may increase the risk to several health conditions such as diabetes, ailments of the heart, stroke or paralysis and so on. Excess weight is always a health risk. Millions of people (more than a third of the adults) suffer from obesity and the attendant health problems. Included among them are those with morbid obesity. It is estimated that almost 5 to 10 percent of the obesity-affected population is in need of immediate medical care and treatment, because of morbid obesity.

That over-eating causes overweight or obesity may not be news. Nevertheless, there may also be some other factors responsible for obesity. A large number of scientific studies link obesity to genetic factors. Scientists from the National Institutes of Health have been studying the occurrence of obesity in the Pima Indians of Arizona and Mexico for decades, because they are among the most obese people in the entire world, some of them weighing more than 500 pounds. That amounts to very severe obesity. No wonder, most of them, especially the Pima tribes in Arizona, are found to have diabetes and heart problems. Certain people therefore are genetically predisposed to obesity. Processed or fast food and a sedentary lifestyle, with little or no time devoted to physical activity or exercise and with no need or even desire to walk (the advent of the car being the culprit here) are found to contribute to obesity. In addition, some medical conditions like hypothyroidism and steroid-intake result in obesity.

Excessive weight, which is usually visible in a person’s girth, or the circumference of the person’s waist, due to the accumulation of too much fat in the abdomen, leads to serious health risks, including death in severe cases of obesity, especially morbid obesity. Therefore, irrespective of the causes of obesity, it is essential for obese people to take suitable steps for losing as much weight as is necessary to bring it to the level of normal BMI.
